Genome Analyzer Services

The illumina Genome Analyzer and HiSeq 2000 instruments are next-generation DNA sequencing systems that read billions of bases in a few days.
The core technology of this instrument, the DNA colonies (or DNA clusters), was co-invented in 1996 by a founder of Fasteris. The DNA sequences are read base-by-base from each DNA colony using a reversible terminator technology.
One flow-cell contains 8 channels. On the HiSeq, at least 50 millions DNA colonies are sequenced (pass filter) in each channel. The read lengths are 50 or 100 bp.
The "inserts" are sequenced either from a forward primer (single-reads, SR) or from a forward and a reverse primer (paired-ends, PE).
A paired-ends run on the HiSeq with 2 flow-cells of 2x100 bases takes 8-10 days.
Example of PhiX reads.
Fasteris was the first service provider in the world to acquire an illumina Genome Analyzer system.

Our 2 illumina GAIIx instruments are being replaced by HiSEQ 2000 (see press release).

Fasteris provides the following applications, many of which were developed in house:

Multiplexing
Fasteris developed a DNA bar-code technology that permits sequencing several samples in one channel, thus reducing sequencing costs.
Genomic shotgun
Whole genome re-sequencing, de novo assembly, genotyping or targeted re-sequencing: long-range PCR products or, for regions of 0.5-30 Mb, the SureSelect liquid array-capture.
ChIP-SEQ
Finding the DNA-binding sites of your protein on the whole genome.
Whole transcriptome
Whole transcriptome shotgun re-sequencing, directional-mRNA-SEQ, gene expression profiling, SAGE-like digital gene expression profiling.
Small RNAs
Counting the small RNAs, mapping them on reference sequences or genomes.
NEW: de novo sequencing of plant viruses by siRNA..
Custom applications
Since 2007, Fasteris developed new applications for the Genome Analyzer system. We will be pleased to adapt our protocol to your needs or to develop novel applications.
Bioinformatics data analyses
Bioinformatics is critical to ensure project success. We developed analysis tools for all applications performed at Fasteris.
Our team will assist you help finding the information you are looking for.
We will be pleased to develop new scripts adapted to your project.

Fasteris certified by Illumina for Genome Analyzer Applications.
In January 2009, Fasteris was the first facility (with NCGR, USA) to complete successfully illumina's rigorous CSPro program for sequencing.
